Our Way

Situated in the heart of the Sharon, in quiet green surroundings, is the Shakla & Tariya House. Founded in 2010, Shakla & Tariya is an innovative center for training and providing support, for organizations and individuals, in the management of challenging realities, by means of presentations, workshops and personal sessions, in Israel and internationally. Shakla & Tariya offers a unique and exclusive multidisciplinary training program known as the Negotiation Specialist Program (NSP) for specializing in the profession of negotiation consulting and support.
The methodology and credo of Shakla & Tariya, which is our way, the Tsur Method, was developed and formulated by Atty. Michael Tsur, the founder of Shakla & Tariya.

What do we believe?

  • That negotiation is a distinct profession, with clear methodology, praxis and an ethical code.
  • That humility, respect for the other and transparency are values that enhance negotiation.
  • That emotion is the central motive in interpersonal behavior and in decision-making, that without trust nothing will happen, and therefore that it is important to build a relationship.
  • That the field of negotiation is about the conservation and intelligent use of the resources at our disposal.
  • That negotiation is actually a learning process based on curiosity, asking questions and active listening.
  • That in order to affect the results of a negotiation we should focus on structuring a process and directing its management.
  • That every interaction or behavior of ours can affect our reputation and our good name.
  • That conducting a negotiation should be done with consideration for the day after.

Our Team
“If you can do it, you can teach it.”

The presentors, instructors and graduates of the Shakla & Tariya academy firmly believe that “if you can do it, you can teach it,” and their common ground is their curiosity and appreciation for any and all people.

They are a diverse set, from Israel and other countries, negotiation specialists who provide support and training for individuals and organizations in complex situations of decision making, negotiating, transition processing and crisis management. Believing in the heterogeneous and in the power of difference, they are accomplished professionals from diverse fields including senior management, law, finance, technology, organizational consulting, personal wealth management, real estate, mediation, industry, startups and entrepreneurship.

“Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.”
John F. Kennedy

Remember the last time you tried to achieve something – a commercial agreement, better terms of employment, cooperation from your child’s teacher, or from your partner, and ask yourself:

  • Did you prepare yourself for it?
  • Did you get what you wanted?
  • What was the emotional price for your attempt?

We get up in the morning to a challenging reality with numerous conflicts, constant changes, uncertainty, information overflow, and meet people who question everything.

We find ourselves busy with breakdowns and putting out fires every day. If people used to have a short fuse, these days they have no fuse. We are expected to respond quickly, briefly and precisely, and it seems like no one is interested in anything but the  bottom line. It’s as though reality were dictating and diverting us so that all we want is to prevail over the circumstances of the day and the breakdowns that seem inevitable.

It is possible however to manage processes and conduct ourselves in a way that changes us from being led to leading. We can forge a unique path and conduct the process with consideration for the day after. We can stop trying to convince and persuade, when we negotiate, and start having a mutually enlightening conversation based on asking questions.

Our way was developed and consolidated into a structured method, the Tsur Method, by the founder of Shakla & Tariya, Atty. Michael Tsur, in the course of more than thirty years. The method is based on the insights of four Nobel Prize winners, John Forbes Nash, Daniel Kahneman, Amos Tversky and Israel Aumann who proved in a long term research study that the emotional dominates the rational, and that emotion is the main driver of interpersonal behavior and decision-making.

The Tsur Method is based on the premise that negotiation transpires in the mind of our partner, and we should therefore base ourselves on curiosity, humility, stamina in a discomfort zone, empowering the other, and relationship building.

For many, adopting this method is a significant change that requires becoming acquainted with new contents as well as undergoing an application phase according to the model known as AKA – Awareness, Knowledge and Ability – developing awareness, thinking methodologically and improving skills, which creates a sense of capability, and this code is implemented by means of an individually customized program that includes presentations, workshops and private support sessions.

Shakla & Tariya presents the method through several channels, organizational as well as individual:

  • Shakla Academy offers a number of tracks for study, training and internship including the flagship program, the unique and exclusive Negotiation Specialist Program (NSP), where training and certification is acquired for consulting and giving support to others in any and all stages of a negotiation process.
  • Shakla Business focuses on finding solutions in the business sector by means of the Negotiation Business Program (NBP) which offers individually tailored programs with personal support sessions, workshops and presentations, according to the needs of the clients – companies, shareholders, executive boards, executives, and personnel.
  • Shakla Social  is for the social sector and offers programs for support, training and empowerment in the fields of education, leadership, communities, families and NGOs.

At Shakla & Tariya, we believe that organizations and individuals who adopt the Tsur Method as a way of life and turn it into their second nature will have better results and more successes while conserving resources. All this can happen in a way that enables them to be complete with themselves and their negotiation partners within a dynamic, demanding and changing environment.
