The Negotiation Specialist Program (NSP) at Shakla & Tariya is the first program of its kind in the world. Its aim is to design and position a new profession that enables its practitioners to be proficient negotiators who specialize further in the preparation of others, individuals and different kinds of entities, in diverse and complex negotiation processes, by means of the most updated methods and skills.

Shakla & Tariya also provides practical experience based on actual practice in conducting negotiation processes and has been accredited by several universities. Unlike courses where negotiation is taught as a supplementary product intended to improve a student’s personal abilities, NSP teaches negotiation as a profession in and of itself. Negotiation professionals will be able to identify, define, prepare and analyze complex negotiation processes, together with their clients, and enable their clients to conduct the negotiation with confidence that the process will be effective and efficient, beforehand, during, and, no less important, afterwards.

The purpose of this program is to provide a response to the growing need in the past decade in the field of consulting and conducting negotiations, for individuals, companies and different entities. In these years it has come to be understood that negotiation management is a profession in and of itself, meaning that it is a discipline with theory, praxis and an ethical code.

Experience has shown that in challenging negotiations and in crisis situations, there is a tendency to rely on personal talent and past experience, which can even be detrimental to the situation. In light of this, it became necessary to have professional guidance in these processes.

Until now, people tended to call upon a lawyer, a communication consultant or a strategic advisor, so that whoever was providing the support did not know the methods and did not have the specific training for handling crisis situations. The appropriate tools for the situations were not introduced, and the outcomes resulted accordingly. This is because there was no existing profession like that which we at Shakla & Tariya are training people to practice, for the first time in the world.

You can start thinking of negotiation as a profession.

Many companies and organizations in the world recognize the importance of the professional negotiator in their everyday business, in their internal organizational activities and in the challenges they encounter. This derives from the organization’s wish to handle situations effectively and to save resources such as management time and money, exactly as in seeking assistance from experts or professionals in other significant and sensitive situations.

Admission Requirements

NSP is for seasoned professionals in any field who want to specialize in a new profession – to consult, conduct and support negotiation processes, to prepare and train others before and while they are negotiating or managing crisis situations.

A Unique, Professional and Challenging Program

NSP has two stages that comprise certification as a Negotiation Specialist, the training stage and the certification stage.

Training Stage –

The stage for training in the negotiation professions is a program with 800 academic hours within 10 months, 18 hours of intensive learning per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, similar to EMBA programs.

The goal of the training stage is to acquire a comprehensive, up-to-date, coherent concept of negotiation. This phase includes dedicated courses and content considered “hot” in the field these days, and use of the Shakla Lab – a safe space for doing simulations and exercises, and analyzing real cases.

Certification Stage –

All participants who complete the training stage and present five negotiation processes that they supported or directed within 6 to 18 months after completing the training stage, will receive certification as Negotiation Specialists.

In view of the very dynamic nature of the field and developments in negotiation as a profession, courses and program designs are carefully updated.

NSP is accredited by the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, in their EMBA program at the Business School, and in their Executive Program of the Faculty of Law, by the Catholic University of Milan, in their Executive Program, and by other universities. The program is for certificate studies.
